To minimize decoding diagnostic messages that were embedded into every 4th transmission from the Microwave Telemetry PTTs used in this study, decoded values were calculated from raw data and written to this file only if raw sensor values were not indicative of a diagnostic message. (1) "buffBreastedSandpiper_USGS_ASC_argosGPS_GPS_filteredLocations.csv" contains one record for every GPS location estimate collected that passed a manual plausibility protocol. Each record also includes a 'Tracking_Status' variable that denotes whether the location was collected from a live animal, a dead animal, or shed transmitter.
(2) "buffBreastedSandpiper_USGS_ASC_argosGPS_diag_filteredLocations.csv" contains one record for every Argos location estimate collected, accompanied by a binary flag that denotes an algorithm's plausibility check. Each record also includes a 'Tracking_Status' variable that denotes whether the location was collected from a live animal, a dead animal, or shed transmitter.
