Overview:
These are raw data (PDF), transcribed data (CSV), and photographs (JPG) from a stratified random survey to inventory the birds breeding in lowlands (elevation below 100m) of the Alaska Peninsula, during summers 2004-2007. Data were collected at 792 survey points (10-min point counts) on 52 5-km x 5-km plots. 
ZIP packages containing annual bird checklists and associated FGDC metadata from USGS Alaska Science Center field camps in Western Alaska. Each annual checklist is presented as a single Comma Separated Value (CSV) formatted table in a standard format consistent with eBird records.

Data included in version 1.0:
 raw data (digital scans of "plot" field data forms and habitat photos from a digital camera)
 base data (transcribed data from "plot" and "point" field data forms into a CSV format)

Version 2.0 posted online May 2022

Appended: 
Added digital scans of "point" data forms. 
Changed the name of "base" metadata to "transcribed data" metadata.
Created a taxonomy table of bird species to reduce the length of the taxonomic tree within each metadata record.
Updated each metadata record to conform with the current FGDC metadata standards. For example, included "digital information".
Updated the date format to YYYYMMDD for all CSV tables in the transcribed data section of this data release.

Three ZIP packages containing: 1) raw data (PDF of "point" and "plot" field data forms), 2) habitat photos (JPG of habitat), and 3) data (CSV files of transcribed data).
