PhD Dissertation Research
My PhD research addresses the resource use of Pacific, red-throated, and Yellow-billed loons nesting on the Arctic Coastal Plain of Alaska. This study examines the non-breeding season distribution and marine habitat use of loons marked with satellite transmitters and geolocation tags. We are also examining diet composition, adult body condition, reproductive success, and chick growth of red-throated and Pacific loons nesting on the Chukchi Sea coast. This research will increase our understanding of the potential effects of resource development and climate change on these populations.
Avian population biology, nesting and wintering ecology, ecotoxicology.
