Transportation Options

For transportation from Anchorage to Seward and return to Anchorage, there are a number of different options available.
Depending on your arrival time to Anchorage, you may need to spend the night in Anchorage and depart the next day.

Alaska Railroad (http://www.alaskarailroad.com/)

Enjoy spectacular scenery on board a comfortable rail car. The Coastal Classic Train connects Anchorage and Seward, a 114 mile journey through mountains, valleys, tunnels and gorges. Majestic glaciers come into view as you wind through some of Alaska’s wilderness areas. The Spencer Glacier’s massive ice field appears less than one mile from the tracks. Bartlett Glacier is visible just 800 feet from the tracks and Deadman Glacier rises above. The scenery along this route is rated by many as the best in the state of Alaska. Most Seward hotels provide shuttle service to and from the Alaska Railroad Depot. Reference code # 37 for $15.00 off per person on the adult round trip fare. Call (800) 544-0552 or (907) 265-2494 for reservations and information.

Motorcoach

A daily motorcoach service provided by Alaska Tour and Travel from Anchorage to Seward each day and offers spectacular scenery as you travel the Seward Highway, a National Scenic Byway. A knowledgeable driver-guide will offer tour highlights along the route, and ample photo and restroom stops will be made. Departures are normally twice a day from Anchorage (7:00 am and 15:00 pm) arriving three hours later in Seward. The motorcoach departs Seward 30 minutes after arrival. Current cost is $54.00 USD one way.
