This data set includes the date and time of observations, the environmental conditions during the observations, and the habitat use and behavior of males and female geese. These data provide a basis for evaluation of long-term changes in Emperor Goose biology on the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta, Alaska. Presented in a Comma Separated Value (CSV) formatted table.

This data set contains observations of all species of geese and swans recorded from scans of two areas during spring from observation towers on the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta (YKD), Kokechik Bay, Camp Lake study area, Alaska during May to June 1983-1986. Scans began at the time of arrival of the first geese and continued through mid-incubation. Data for each observation includes: weather conditions, species, neck collar number/letter combination, habitat, and behavior. Each line represents a single observation of either a pair (male and female) or flock or single goose of unidentified age or sex, and comments. Scans were conducted at approximately 1-hour intervals during each 4-hour observation period. The duration of an observation of a set of birds was the time needed to determine the activity of all the geese and read collars; the amount of time for an observation of a bird without a collar was generally a few seconds; it took longer to read collars. Total scan time varied with the number of birds in sight, but generally took 5-15 minutes. Observations were made using a Questar spotting scope (65x) and only conducted when weather conditions were conducive for observations. Presented in a Comma Separated Value (CSV) formatted table.

This data set contains observations recorded during each visit to a goose nest on the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta (YKD), Kokechik Bay, Camp Lake study area, Alaska during May to July 1982-1986. This includes species, band or color number of nesting female, nest and plot identification, date, habitat type, and the number of eggs and their status. The date the first egg was laid, the date incubation began, the date eggs hatched, incubation period, and laying period are derived from a computer program (SUMPRG99.f77) developed by Colleen M. Handel. Presented in a Comma Separated Value (CSV) formatted table.
